Export documentation is prepared in-house alongside the booking. At the destination, customs clearance for personal effects is handled as part of the service, and delivery runs to the door where the destination network allows it.

Air baggage suits smaller consignments and urgent moves, arriving in roughly 5 to 10 days including clearance. It costs more per kilogram but avoids a long wait.

Sea freight suits large household moves where cost matters more than speed. Transit runs 25 to 45 days depending on the destination port, and the per-kilogram rate drops considerably as volume increases. For a full household we normally recommend sea.

Baggage should be packed in sturdy cases or cartons, with fragile items wrapped individually. We advise against sending anything irreplaceable, since baggage consignments are handled repeatedly in transit.

Currency, jewellery, firearms, flammable liquids, aerosols, loose batteries, and perishable food cannot be sent. Some destinations additionally restrict used electronics and medicines. We review your packing list before collection so nothing is held at customs.

Airlines price excess baggage per kilo at check-in, and that rate is set to discourage it rather than to carry it economically. Because the charge applies to every kilo over your allowance, the cost rises in a straight line: the second suitcase is as expensive as the first, and a few boxes of household goods can cost more to carry than the ticket did.

Sent as an unaccompanied baggage consignment, the same goods are charged as freight, which is priced on chargeable weight and routing rather than at a penalty rate. The saving grows with the volume: for one extra bag the difference may be modest, but for the contents of a room it is usually substantial. We quote against your actual packing list so you can compare the two before deciding.

The trade-off is time. Baggage you check in travels with you; baggage sent as freight travels on its own schedule and has to clear customs at destination. If you need an item in hand on arrival, carry it. If it can follow you, send it.

Unaccompanied baggage is cleared as personal effects rather than as a commercial import, and destinations grant that treatment only against the right paperwork. In most cases that means a copy of your passport, your visa or residence permit, evidence of travel such as a boarding pass or ticket, and an itemised list of the contents with approximate values.

The contents list matters more than people expect. Personal effects relief generally applies to used household and personal goods, not to new items still in retail packaging, which can be assessed as a commercial import and charged duty. Declare what is genuinely used as used, and tell us in advance about anything new, so the entry is filed correctly the first time.
